Trump: A 'nationalist', or something more extreme?

(Commentary, including reposted material. Temporarily posted.)

An excerpt from the following (more complete) Wikipedia article (link). (Note: Please see the full articles excerpted below for additional details, footnotes, etc.):
"Neo-fascism is a post–World War II ideology that includes significant elements of fascism. Neo-fascism usually includes ultranationalism, populism, authoritarianism, nativism and opposition to immigration, as well as opposition to liberal democracy, parliamentarianism, Marxism, Communism and socialism. Allegations that a group is neo-fascist may be hotly contested, especially if the term is used as a political epithet. Some post–World War II regimes have been described as neo-fascist due to their authoritarian nature, and sometimes due to their fascination with and sympathy towards fascist ideology and rituals..."
Another excerpt, from the following Wikipedia article (link):
"...Fascists believe that liberal democracy is obsolete and they regard the complete mobilization of society under a totalitarian one-party state as necessary to prepare a nation for armed conflict and to respond effectively to economic difficulties. Such a state is led by a strong leader—such as a dictator and a martial government composed of the members of the governing fascist party—to forge national unity and maintain a stable and orderly society. Fascism rejects assertions that violence is automatically negative in nature and views political violence, war and imperialism as means that can achieve national rejuvenation. Fascists advocate a mixed economy, with the principal goal of achieving autarky (national economic self-sufficiency) through protectionist and interventionist economic policies."

A third excerpt, from the following Wikipedia article (link):
"The alt-right, or alternative right, is a loosely connected and somewhat ill-defined grouping of white supremacists/white nationalists, neo-Nazis, neo-fascists, neo-Confederates, Holocaust deniers, and other far-right fringe hate groups.
Alt-right beliefs have been described as isolationist, protectionist, antisemitic and white supremacist, frequently overlapping with neo-Nazism, identitarianism, nativism and Islamophobia, antifeminism, misogyny and homophobia, right-wing populism and the neoreactionary movement. The concept has further been associated with several groups such as American nationalists...." [Etc.]

(Brief commentary:) ...So maybe I have been a little "slow" in catching onto -- or perhaps actually believing -- what many others may already comprehend. I.e., about Donald Trump, numerous (supporting) U.S. Republicans, Trump "rally"-attendees, and so on...:

Equally troubling is that too many Americans apparently still accept -- even cheer -- Trump's crude, hateful words. (Updated)

(Commentary, including reposted material. Temporarily posted.)

(....Along with his apparently corrupt (etc.) actions (link)...)

10/19/18 news article excerpts, including quotations from the President of the United States of America:
"President Donald Trump praised Montana Republican Rep. Greg Gianforte for assaulting a reporter during his campaign last May, saying "any guy who can do a body slam ... he's my guy" and made a gesture mimicking a body slam.
At a Montana rally Thursday night, Trump admitted, "I shouldn't say this," but continued and said, "there's nothing to be embarrassed about."
The comment comes at the same time as the administration responds to the disappearance and apparent murder of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi in the Saudi consulate in Istanbul...."
"......Trump later recalled the back-and-forth with former Vice President Joe Biden over a fight, and again invoked Gianforte's body slam of Jacobs [the reporter].
"How about sleepy Joe Biden? Sleepy Joe. Remember he challenged me to a fight and that was fine. And when I said he wouldn't last long -- he'd be down faster than Greg would take him down, he'd be down so fast, remember? Faster than Greg -- I'd have to go very fast, I'd have to immediately connect," Trump told the crowd."

(Insert: Old, fat, slow, out-of-shape Donald Trump....physically threatening people. (Or similar)...As President of the United States, no less............  The madness continues.)

FWIW, (if not already clear...): As best as possible, I'm not going to be included as part of any cohort that finds what Trump and U.S. Republicans are currently perpetrating to be "OK" or "acceptable"...And you shouldn't either. It cannot be "taken lying down"...

10/19/18 update: Per the linked article, no GOP lawmaker response so far to Trump's hostile words:

"Murphy" is a little older now, but she's fighting the fight as well. (It's sanitized and "'gentled-up" a bit for TV, but...) the character (below) articulates what's been said more than once within this tiny blog: Trump...many U.S. Republicans ... and plenty of their supporters are scared, (generally-) old, (generally-) white "dinosaurs"....It's likely their dying howl.

(Commentary:) Eliciting something truthful out of Trump -- without 'spin', distortion, embellishment, feigned agreement, subject-changes, lies, etc. etc.: Easier to nail 'Jell-O' to the (proverbial) wall

(Commentary (below), including reposted material. Temporarily posted.)

............................................................................................................................................................................................

(Comment:) A "top story" from Donald Trump's 10/14/18 '60 Minutes' interview with Leslie Lesley Stahl is probably not the following. (Ref. the first video below.) I.e., that Trump has somehow meaningfully "changed his view(s)" about climate change and its effects.

Instead, the "con-man-in-chief" is more likely -- for the moment --saying something ...ummm.. kind of 'in the ballpark' of mainstream thought/consensus about climate change ...to pander to the (expected) views of many within the '60 Minutes' audience.

Look for real proof of any significant "change" in Trump's views in his regime's actual policies involving climate change (and its effects). Suggestion: "Don't hold your breath" on this one...at least while Republicans are in control.

(YT video link. No copyright etc.)

.............................................................................................................................................................................

The following two video clips from the 60 Minutes interview are among the most disturbing. Frankly...if you can't understand why, there is - unfortunately - not much hope for you either.
One hint: James Mattis is one of the few thinking, fairly rational, not-completely-sycophantic 'adults' remaining within Trump's cabinet. Woe is us if Mattis "leaves" -- and is replaced with someone lacking such characteristics.

Persistence, U.S. Democrats and those who seek justice: At some point Donald Trump's "chickens are coming home to roost"

(Note: Assuming that justice still exists/is possible to achieve in the U.S.
...Commentary, including reposted commentary. Temporarily posted. Some updated material is added further below.)

(For reference, an quick definition:
"Q. Can you explain the genesis of the phrase 'chickens coming home to roost'?
A.  As a proverbial expression it’s half a millennium old.
The older fuller form was curses are like chickens; they always come home to roost, meaning that your offensive words or actions are likely at some point to rebound on you. The idea goes back to Chaucer, though he expressed it rather differently in The Parson’s Tale, around 1390, writing that curses are like “a bird that returns again to his own nest”....")

Below: (Just..) Some slimy samples involving our "Name-Caller-in-Chief"....
(-- As a quick insert, we'll also include (five-military-draft deferments --) Trump's zest for publicly disparaging/lying about people generally more (lawful and) decent than he...)

(Continuing:)......Who himself was not-so-long-ago succinctly described in this manner..:
"Donald Trump is a phony, a fraud. His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University."
.....by prominent Republican Mitt Romney. (Source link.)

....................................................................

Note: Readers may feel a need to take a quick shower after reading much of the following.
>>> ..Some - included below - (currently) involve allegations (i.e., not yet proven). (BTW: If you want to view a really lengthy accounting (over time), take a look here (link): https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Legal_affairs_of_Donald_Trump.)

--- Listing the following first, as Trump-appointee Brett Kavanaugh's nomination "case" may be concluded, but not completely closed. (Copy:):

(Generally listing items below from older to more recent. External sources are linked:)

--- (Excerpt -- illustrating a "closed (settled) case" example:) "Trump University (also known as the Trump Wealth Institute and Trump Entrepreneur Initiative LLC) was an American for-profit education company that ran a real estate training program from 2005 until 2010. It was owned and operated by The Trump Organization.... After multiple lawsuits, it is now defunct. It was founded by Donald Trump and his associates, Michael Sexton and Jonathan Spitalny, in 2004....Despite repeatedly insisting that he would not settle, Trump settled all three lawsuits in November 2016 for a total of $25 million after being elected to the presidency."

(Source link)

--- (Excerpt:) "The Donald J. Trump Foundation was a New York-based private foundation founded and chaired by Donald Trump 45th President of the United States. Trump originally created the foundation to his proceeds from his book Trump: The Art of the Deal to charitable causes. However Trump stopped contributing personal funds to the foundation in 2008 and instead solicited donations from outsiders. During the 2016 presidential election campaign the foundation's activities came under intense media scrutiny, initially by the Washington Post's David Fahrenthold, who went on to win the 2017 Pulitzer Prize for National Reporting for his investigatory work. The foundation and its directors have since been accused of committing various ethical and legal violations, including self-dealing...."

...On June 14, 2018, New York Attorney General Barbara Underwood filed civil suit against President Donald Trump and his three eldest children, Donald, Jr., Ivanka, and Eric, alleging "persistently illegal conduct" with respect to foundation money, accusing them of engaging in campaign finance violations, using foundation money in their self-interest ("self-dealing"), and illegally coordinating donations with Donald Trump's presidential campaign. She ordered the charity dissolved and demanded $2.8 million in restitution and penalties. She also made referrals to the Federal Election Commission and the IRS."

(Source link)

--- (Excerpt:) "On January 17, 2017, [Summer] Zervos filed a defamation lawsuit against Trump, arising from his statement that she had lied about the allegations... Zervos has filed a subpoena for "all documents concerning any woman who asserted that Donald J. Trump touched her inappropriately". On 21 March 2018, a New York Supreme Court judge decided to allow a defamation lawsuit against the President to go forward. On June 4, 2018, Manhattan Supreme Court Justice Jennifer Schecter ruled that Trump must be deposed by January 31, 2019. As of September 9, 2018, Trump will provide written answers under oath in the defamation lawsuit."

(Source link)

--- (Excerpt:) "The Stormy Daniels–Donald Trump scandal is a political scandal involving a nondisclosure agreement (NDA) signed by U.S. President Donald Trump's personal lawyer Michael Cohen and adult film actress Stormy Daniels just before the 2016 United States presidential election. After the existence of the NDA was revealed by The Wall Street Journal in January 2018, Daniels sued Trump and Cohen to argue that the agreement is invalid....In August 2018, Cohen pleaded guilty to eight charges, including one related to the scandal, and he stated under oath that he paid Daniels "in coordination with and at the direction of a candidate for federal office," meaning Trump..."

"....During a Fox & Friends interview Trump stated that the payment funds came from him personally and not from campaign funds. Trump also said that he only knew about the payments "later on". These comments contradict earlier statements from Cohen that were given while under oath. Lanny Davis, Cohen's lawyer suggested that Trump should be prosecuted for the crimes he instructed Cohen to commit."

Sullivan of the United States District Court in Washington ruled that the lawmakers have standing to sue Mr. Trump for accepting payments and other benefits from foreign governments without obtaining permission from Congress, which would violate the Constitution’s clause that bars federal officials from accepting gifts, or emoluments, from foreign powers without congressional approval..."

Closing commentary: (Even for this tiny blog..) I actually enjoy researching things....
..And I'm really tired of all the work involved with excerpting some key items from an exceptionally lengthy listing right now.....

So I'm going outside. (BTW: That is what even superficially dealing with the never-ending chaos surrounding Donald Trump does to ((mostly-) normal) people...)

I didn't even (explicitly) list the ongoing Mueller Special Counsel investigation in the above....Potentially at least as significant (for the Trump administration, family, associates, and businesses) as anything included above.
