....Certainly NOT the (allegedly-) murderous despot standing right next to me......(because 'he told me so'):
How scary is this↓ (..including Trump's rambling, completely evasive (non-)answer .....):

7/17/18 update: Hear a 'weasel' cry.... (Per following article link.) FWIW: I/we need REAL proof that Trump somehow "misspoke" in Helsinki w/ Putin. This is a person who has been caught lying (or misleading) well over 3000 times in his presidency. The belated 'mea culpa' (- he still couldn't even do that without contradicting ad libs -) is much more likely (an attempt at) "damage control".
..Trump just did not have the brains or the 'balls' to challenge his idol, Putin (i.e., in Helsinki -- or (likely) anywhere)...
...(Real) Presidents don't get world-stage press conference "do-overs".

(Comment:) At bare minimum, all Trump needed to do per the (fair) question recorded above: Turn and "ask" President Putin to pledge -- in front of the world -- that the Russian state (will) end interference with democratic elections, including those in the U.S. (Perhaps it could have even involved reciprocating (impromptu) pledges, i.e.; from both "leaders"...)
If nothing else, that moment would have been on-record (for all to (re-)view)...

7/16/18 update. Copy, reposted:
Today’s press conference in #Helsinki was one of the most disgraceful performances by an American president in memory.— John McCain (@SenJohnMcCain) July 16, 2018
My full statement on the #HelsinkiSummit: https://t.co/lApjctZyZl
Excerpted quotation from Senator McCain:
“...No prior president has ever abased himself more abjectly before a tyrant. Not only did President Trump fail to speak the truth about an adversary; but speaking for America to the world, our president failed to defend all that makes us who we are—a republic of free people dedicated to the cause of liberty at home and abroad. American presidents must be the champions of that cause if it is to succeed. Americans are waiting and hoping for President Trump to embrace that sacred responsibility. One can only hope they are not waiting totally in vain.”(Source link)

P.S. Putin/Trump summit 'talks' about possibly extending START were expected (i.e., in advance). (7/15/18 article link: http://time.com/5338658/donald-trump-vladimir-putin-summit-nuclear-deal/)
